Education Above All

Founded in 2012 by Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, the former first lady of Qatar, Education Above All (EAA) foundation works to ensure global equitable access to quality education, especially in poor and distressed communities. EAA operates in 57 countries working with global, regional and local partners to deliver programmes. Using a co-funding model, the foundation works with government, multilateral aid agencies as well as private sector companies and multinationals to strengthen programme impact with pooled financial resources, advocacy support and education research.

Programmes

  • Al Fakhoora
    Al Fakhoora focuses on increasing access to higher education for youth in conflict-affected regions by providing scholarship opportunities. To-date, the programme has awarded more than 7,000 scholarships.
  • Educate a Child
    This programme supports marginalised and at-risk out of school children (OOSC) with quality primary education. Interventions are targeted in places and geographies with challenging circumstances including poverty, discrimination, conflict, unsafe environments and climate change.
  • Innovation Development Directorate
    IDD focuses on integrating technology and innovative solutions to introduce advanced ways of making high quality education and learning accessible to all, and particularly to the most marginalised youth in underserved communities. This programme has reached 130 countries and more than 400,000 learners worldwide.
  • Protect Education in Insecurity and Conflict (PEIC)
    This programme aims to promote the right to education in areas of crisis, conflict, and insecurity through law and policy advocacy.
  • Reach Out to Asia (ROTA)
    This programme aims to promote civic engagement, entrepreneurship and global citizenship among marginalised youth in Asia to empower them to become active participants in building a better and more sustainable future. ROTA has been implemented in 21 countries and reached more than two million children and youth.
  • Together
    The Together project was launched in 2017 under the umbrella of Al Fakhoora to increase access to education through scholarships and through the establishment of alternative education spaces in Qatar called "Assalam Schools" in collaboration with ministries and NGOs. To date, this programme has provided 2,187 scholarships and launched five Assalam schools.
  • Youth Advocacy
    The aim of this programme is to build youth ambassadors and empower them to become active agents of positive change through training, skill development, capacity building, cultural exchange and peer-to-peer support groups.
