Al Alfi Foundation

Founded in 2008 by Moataz Alalfi, Al Alfi Foundation aims to foster an enabling environment for the realisation of a knowledge-based economy in Egypt. The organisation invests in human capital development through education, leadership, and entrepreneurship programmes providing training and scholarship opportunities for talented individuals, educators, researchers and scientists in STEM fields. In addition, it supports capacity building initiatives for teachers, school principals and education-focused NGOs. Since its inception, the foundation has granted more than 7,404 fellowships and it is the first Egyptian foundation to support Ph.Ds. and research at international universities.

Programmes

  • Educators Empowerment Programme
    Provides educators with specialized training sessions, enrollment in accredited certifications and opportunities to participate in global competitions and international conferences. This programme also offers scholarships for advanced study levels as well as workshops that improve teacher skills.
  • Gifted Youth Programme
    Aims at ensuring that talented students receive education, encouragement, and support to grow. The programme identifies gifted junior students in STEM majors and offers the high-achievers scholarships to further pursue their studies.
  • Innovation and Leadership Programme
    Fosters young STEM entrepreneurs, provides them with the skills and know-how necessary to pitch their start-ups to potential investors and connects them with business stakeholders and mentors.
  • Magdi Yacoub Fellowship
    This fellowship programme sponsors the research team of Aswan Heart Foundation to pursue their medical research in top world universities and research centers, to enhance their research skills and experience and transfer this back to the prominent Aswan Health Centre in Egypt.
  • NGO Capacity Building Programme
    Aimed at enhancing the larger development ecosystem and supporting other Egyptian NGOs so that they are better able to create impactful projects to help achieve sustainable development.
